Make Your Own Peanut Butter Cups with 5 Ingredients {Countdown to Christmas}

homemade peanut butter cups

Put your hands up if you can’t get enough of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups? Me too!  If you’re looking for the perfect Christmas stocking filler for the Peanut Butter Cup lover in your life, look no further (or you could just make them for yourself like me!)

Can you believe they can be made in next to no time with only 5 ingredients – the only downside is you need to leave them in the fridge to cool once you’ve assembled them. That said, it’s so worth it, so you could always make them in bulk so you’ve always got plenty in the fridge .

  • 200g peanut butter
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 25g caster sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 250g milk chocolate

You’ll also need:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon for mixing
  • Measuring scales
  • Teaspoon x 2
  • Small bowl for melting chocolate in
  • Microwave
  • 12 hole bun tray
  • 12 paper cases

  1. Put your cake cases in your bun tray ready for filling
  2. Put a heaped dessert spoon of peanut butter in the melting bowl and set aside for now
  3. Put the rest of your peanut butter in a bowl, along with your butter, caster sugar and salt
  4. Mix until smooth
  5. Break your chocolate into your melting bowl along with your peanut butter
  6. Heat in the microwave on full power – I blast mine for 20 second bursts before removing the bowl to give the melting chocolate/peanut butter a good mix
  7. Once completely melted, spoon a little chocolate in each paper case to cover the bottom
  8. Using two teaspoons, put a teaspoon of your peanut butter cream in the centre of each case on top of the chocolate
  9. Pour on the rest of the chocolate to cover the peanut butter cream in each paper case
  10. Place in the fridge until the chocolate has completely set, ideally for two hours

If you’re looking to make these as gifts, I use these little bags from Lakeland to present them, and short lengths of ribbon to make the bow. Do you get annoyed with the little loops of ribbon you get in new clothes to keep them on the hanger? Well I cut mine out and save them for when I’m making bags of goodies.
