All Butter Shortbread

Rich, buttery and crumbly, the humble shortbread is so simple and easy to make and uses only three ingredients. Like my World Famous Muffins recipe, I’ve been making this shortbread for years and it is always a winner with my family. Fancy making your own? Here’s how:

You’ll need:

  • 150g plain flour
  • 100g butter
  • 50g caster sugar
  • Icing Sugar for dusting

You’ll also need:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring scales
  • Baking tray
  • Baking parchment
  • Cooling rack
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutters
  • Sieve


  1. Put your flour, butter and sugar into your mixing bowl
  2. Rub the butter into the flour and sugar using your finger tips
  3. Continue until the mixture sticks together and form it into a ball
  4. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface
  5. Cut out your shapes with a cookie cutter
  6. Place the shapes on a baking tray lined with parchment
  7. Bake in the oven (180 degrees Celsius/gas mark 5) for 10-15 minutes
  8. Leave to cool on the cooling rack
  9. Dust with icing sugar before serving
