Chocolate Chip Shortbread

As rich, buttery and crumbly as its plainer sister, today I’m sharing with you my favourite twist on my classic shortbread recipe…Chocolate Chip Shortbread. I don’t know about you, but I think everything tastes better with chocolate and these little lovelies don’t disappoint. They’re great to share, but don’t feel like you have to!

You’ll need:

  • 150g plain flour
  • 100g butter
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 50g chocolate chips
  • Icing Sugar for dusting

You’ll also need:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring scales
  • Baking tray
  • Baking parchment
  • Cooling rack
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutters
  • Sieve


  1. Put your flour, butter and sugar into your mixing bowl
  2. Rub the butter into the flour and sugar using your finger tips
  3. Continue until the mixture sticks together
  4. Add your chocolate chips, mix and form it into a ball
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface until they are 5mm thick
  6. Cut out your shapes with a cookie cutter
  7. Place the shapes on a baking tray lined with parchment
  8. Bake in the oven (180 degrees Celsius/gas mark 5) for 10-15 minutes
  9. Leave to cool on the cooling rack
  10. Dust with icing sugar before serving
