Today I’m working with Gütermann again to tell you about their Little Friends Collection – their tag line for this range is “A world of dreams and make believe” and it’s so true. As I was looking through the brochure for this range, I wished I was a little girl all over again as there are so many beautiful ideas. With little geese, hares and bears adorning some of the prints along with raindrops, and hot air balloons, you really are transported back to your childhood.
To feature this range, I chose some of their fabric to make a Flo Dress (you can find the review of that pattern here); I was really impressed by the quality and softness of the cotton, it’s perfect next to the skin, even for tiny tots. Even better, the cotton feels really strong (I got to test this out when I attached the bodice to the skirt, not realising the bodice was inside out…oops!)
This dress is made for age 2 – doesn’t it look little? I decided to keep this dress very simple as I think the mixture of the raindrops and the hot air balloons carrying bears and presents are a feature enough but did you know the Little Friends Collection also features a range of ribbons, buttons and trims for your own projects? The 100% cotton fabrics come in 18 different designs (I was spoilt for choice when I was choosing one for this project) and are a generous 145cm wide. I even had enough fabric left to make a little skirt (the tutorial for this make can be found here).
Although you’re too late to enter the giveaway now to win some of your own, the Little Friends Collection, with its soft pinks, blues and greys, fit perfectly with the Portofino range.
As I was looking through the fabrics, I had so many ideas for what to make with them. Now I’ve worked with the cotton and felt how soft and luxurious it feels, I’d love to get some more and make a Play Mat – perfect to pop little ones down onto, or a gorgeous quilted crib blanket. If you’re looking for other ideas, the Little Friends Collection also features projects to make such as this little goose.
